June !

   All of May was busy  ! First we got the RV tuned up inspected for the year. We also spent t a  few days getting the garden planted ! and the yard cleaned up form our 'Late winter. The remainder of the  month included trips to  Des Moines,  Eldora- Pine Lake with Beast and  wild weather, also off to Kansas City for graduation party.

  Now that we are home. For the month of June,  I'm catching up on current projects,,  6 Belize blue feathered stars for a commission  in TX.

 ....... theres many many lil  stinkin triangles  in this quilt here they are chained off the table and pooling on the floor. ...400 or so !

  I 've found a sewing table that is portable and a very nice Height.  This week I'm sewing near the PC while keeping up on a family event.

  The next big project is a whole cloth quilt for expected baby in July. that's getting closer !!!

  It always amazes me how a simple humble piece of muslin can be transformed with  mere  pencil and needle & thread................ plus couple hundred hours.

 

 

  I'm working on this project in the front room while watching too much news.

  Every now n then I have to get up , stretch, walk around and  cheer along all the  garden goodies that have been planted. We have tucked seeds in all the  various beds around the  new house.   Near the garage we have chard  and cabbage .. still very small.

  at the  street side we planted bushy green beans in amongst  some  wild things from  previous owners.

   The backyard bed has wide rows planted to  try out the digger Santa brought me..
 new toys !

  Along the fence line  in a wide bed are the tomato........ 30 of them..  I'm in the mood to can this year,,,,Heres to  Good Iowa Dirt !!!

MAY !

 Its been a busy spring here ! Odd one too ! With snow this past week . a whole 8 1/2 inches !!     One day we did bike ride around the area.. the next day we were in Des Moines with tank tops on  to take the RV for tune up...  The following day it snowed ! nutz, some body ticked off  Mother Nature for sure LOLLLL...

 So while  tucked away in the house instead of playing in the dirt..  We hung this special May basket quilt.  This quilt was made by girls around the world that  were in a chat room CrazyQuilters. It was hosted by Nancy..   If I remember right   it was quilted in Canada.. and bound during the long drive from there to Kansas City in 1999.

  Participants rang from  a gal stationed in Japan,  couple from Canada, couple from Australia.  an immigrant of Pakistan, New york, Kansas, Nevada,  Wisconsin, Tennessee.. a fun bunch of girls !

  May 3 !! 8.5 on the ruler !

  Ive been busy !!  After working hard on the 2013 Winter star Quilt to Top  stage.  It was time to  do a commission job of 5 Red feathered stars... Next on the list is  this whole cloth baby quilt Hand drawn and hand stitched for a niece that is due soon.  I better get to work. !  I also have another one to do for   the next grand baby ! coming in November.

  Along about Feb I started   the garden in the basement.. I think past owners had a grow light set up down there. ..so  I'm giving it a try. !

  Up stairs the  Dining room table changes as often as the projects do !
 Here I have the finished  Feathered Stars waiting for starch.. and  dozen squash plants waiting for bigger space.

.. and always the puppies are there to   keep an eye on me.

started with tracking down an outdated magazine pattern... ( Thank You Donna)

  to a few road trips with Tim...

   letting the sun shine in and warm things on a winter day...

 . lots of ironing , cutting,  measuring, fussing...

 ... a new folding table found at a  thrift sale  and made to fit my machine by Tim  .. xo..

   some 14 hr days.. some 6 hr days to  tackle the mess...

 ... tame the beast of  wanting it done.. waiting to see if it all comes together...

 . ..a crazy technique where you pull paper off the back..

 .. This close to done!.. a marathon of borders......

 DONE. ...  waiting in line to be quilted.... I have Two  baby quilts to finish first !!!~

 Ive done so many Linus quilts and so many church quilts I thought perhaps time to spread the wealth  to new places.

 For Jan Feb  I pulled all the  red white & blue fabric I had and started sewing.. so far we have 6 tops!  These will be mailed to  Alycia in CO who participates  with Quilts of Valor.

 The red white & blue fabrics are still on the table  ,, tho the pile has shrunk !.  I'm getting spring fever to get in the garden but being Iowa, I don't expect alot of activity there till middle May. 

 Maybe Ill paint the kitchen ???... Maybe Ill switch to  springy colors..?  Maybe Ill  finish  some tops on hangers......???  Maybe Ill even update this blog more often ~~ Stay tuned ~ ~

Late 2012 Overview and tally

 Just a quickie note  that yes  We arrived into a New Year !
 I'm slowly getting back to a routine like I had in MO.
 Or at least functioning with twice as much Hubby at Home and  less $$  loll :: retirement !

 The  year  was exciting  and  literally flew by !,,
 Jan Tim decided to retire
Feb I went house hunting
March packing and  getting MO house for sale
 April it sold !
May it closed on both houses and we moved to trailer park .. Tim still working
 June   spent at trailer park swimming and sewing
July Tim is DONE,, we  finally arrived  at Ia house
 Aug Boxes more boxes
Sept   cleaned  up the jungley yard. Added a Dandy Dog.  Son crashed bike.
 Oct  Mayo and home care
Nov crazy marathon to get holiday star done.
 Dec  Jake walking sans walker. crazy marathon continued, with prep for first Christmas in IA  house. Jake sans back/neck brace.
Dec 30 DR said Jake is healed up very well ! xo
