Laundry Room Fix Up

Tim & Jake removed a section of old cupboard to make room for the freezer.
I painted with a lively green called lettuce, Its not grammas pantry green LOLL. but its NOT  neon green either. even if these pics do feel a bit a bright. I think it is more of a green apple color.
After moving the freezer to the other side of the room the built in ironing board  is usable ... neat !
........ with a good scrubbing we are good to go !

Ill add  some deco on the walls, and Tim painting a bench to sit on yet.

Next big job is the kitchen..........................

... and finally some deco on the walls ! Letters cut by the handy neighbor ( thank you Richard) a $1 placemat and $4 sign.

   DONE!

Fall Projects

We worked this week on a BIG project.
We ripped out all the old plants, ugly rotten logs, trimmed trees and bushes.
It only took 5 days to fill the big dumpster!  This will be an even better deal come next spring when we can plant Veggies ! I have dearly missed having a garden this year !

The Diva and Dandy  have become  quite a pair !

After all the heat and drought of summer we had a doozy of a storm, blowing over a big bush and taking out the phone line wire above.  We cut the whole thing down ! This will let in more light for the  large garden space in the corner. Tim transplanted several hostas and other plants  closer to the house so this is space is usable now.

Shortly after we arrived  I planted a few veggies. July 15 !  here it is Sept 15 and we have a few things growing !  Lets hold off the frost for a bit yet !

  ..... theres the herbys
 ................... see my pepper !
............ see my dandy  digger !
and a pretty bit of  color with plain old marigolds

... some green beans......... guess I need a stir fry for the harvest meal this year . LOLL
The MR and Mrs and a puppy ornament.

We changed out the mosquito pond for a bonfire pit

The Beast  is parked for the winter.

My  quilting is always in progress.  This one has just begun and  is a black, red, gold braid.

A Star in the Making

Every year I try to make a heirloom  quilt.  I design it sew it, hand quilt it, then  draw a family members name to receive  it.

While  the concept begins long before the last one is done.  The actual   design sketch &  building of it starts in January.......... usually..............

This year I started July 27 during the Olympics. I had a several 14 hr days sewing madly to get this  concept from my head to assembled top !
I  was fortified with Dew,  the TV clicker was handy at my side,,,,,
The phone clicker wasn't far away either....   I made a Big Mess !!
I got the top side assembled !!  with about 104 hrs stitching.......
  Tim  hid out a few of those days.................  xox   :}
He did  some cooking. some runs to the grocery store, .. some bike rides....  and some wood projects. Here He has the basting table ready to set up in the basement !  yae!
... before basting it needs to have quilt lines marked.  A  good week was spent cruising the net for ideas,  sketching, running to Staples to enlarge a thumb print design up to 30  inches..,,
and a night spent cutting the design stencil with a razor blade. ( reminders of cutting rubylith LOOONNNGGG time ago)
I tried out 6 different brands of marking tool$  & tracing paper$ , ending up with a $3 white pencil..
after  3 days  of marking so very carefully.  We went down stairs to baste it !

and today Sept 6  2012 its now on the frame up stairs !!

Now all we have to do is sit there  200 hrs or so. stitching  6-7 stitches per inch, by hand, with miles of thread, .
.......
...................  to get done by Christmas??........... and a Star is born.

whew. Time flys !!
